This is my first post here, so hello to all. I'm 18 in a week and I picked up this 1981 gs250 TX a few months back and it has been an ongoing project. I can't wait to get out and ride the thing but there are a few problems I need to address first.

The main one has to deal with my front brake caliper. Its actually the second one I have bought, but it has the same problem as the first. It seems to work fine for a little while when I start riding but shortly into my run the front caliper starts to hang up on the disk. After I use it to slow down it won't release all of the way and it gets worse and worse the farther I go. I really don't want to warp my disk and have to replace that too lol, so shes parked for now. My question is, what is causing the caliper to do this? ANd how do I fix it. THe company I bought it from (I got it USED) has thousands of bike that they part and sell and they said I can send this one back and they will look for another to send to me. I don't want them to just send me another wacky friggin caliper again though, I'm getting tired of messing around with the thing, you know? Any help is appreciated. Also if anyone knows of a place whre I can get a cheap rebuild kit for this caliper please share it. Thanks!

-Matt

Hi Mr. 81suzukigs,

I think you''ll want to rebuild the caliper. Kits are cheap ($14 or so) at lots of online places. My faves are www.z1enterprises.com and www.bikebandit.com.

Since you''ve got a classic GS series, I recommend you head over to www.thegsresources.com and join that forum. Those guys know their stuff when it comes to these old bikes.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
