hey whats up guys. just joined the suzuki family when i bought a 1998 RM250 today. got an alsome deal on it. but i have a few questions. i am pretty new to dirt bikes and really new to motocross bikes. i have had a couple of hondas but i have only learned a few things in the maintance level of it. first question: i need to bleed the back brakes and get them working again. it had no fluid in it. the guy told me they work but needed to be bleed and fluid replaced. how do i do that??????????? i am the new guy. i know it has to be easy but just not sure how to do it. also the reeds need to be replaced in the carb. is that hard to do? if so should i just let the shop do it? i am pretty sure i can do it. he told me a little bit but just would like some more info on it. that is it for now. i would and do appericate any respones. thanks again.

Welcome, I also have a 250. But a four stroke.
To bleeding the brakes, there should be a bolt or screw to remove on the box that above the disks. Remove it. When done that, press brakes until fluid runs out.
After that, look along the brake set up. Usually its says ONLY USE DOT4 or DOT3 BRAKE FLUID ONLY. Pick some of that jazz up and unscrew the top of the box (where the brake fluid level is) Put some in until its the right level. Screw back on and you should be swell.
But thats just how i THINK its done. I recomend going to a dealershop and getting it repaired. Because they know what they are doing.

replacing the reeds should be pretty easy. if you didn't know they're between the engine and the carb. if you're gunna go aftermarket i'd go with Vforce reed cage. its about $150 so i don't know if you'd just want to get some OEM reeds. and this might sound stupid, but make sure you put mix gas in it. and for maintenence stuff you could get a Clymer Service Manual. that should be like $30 and it will help a lot with maintenence. I bought one for my 1991 RM80 that I'm rebuilding and its helped a lot. if you're wonderin why an RM80, I'm only 15. good luck with the reeds.
